4 Signs You Need to Replace Your Mattress

Sleeping on a sagging mattress sucks, especially when you spend one third of your life in bed. It can be difficult to see the signs of wear and tear because you're so used to your mattress, or to know which signs are indications that warrant replacement.

So, we're here to help! Customer service is one of Mattress Firm's values, which means we're passionate about helping our customers find a high-quality, comfortable mattress so they can sleep better.

4 Reasons to Replace Your Used Mattress

Let's look at a few warning signs that probably indicate that your old mattress is past its prime and that it's time to replace it with a new bed.

1. Tossing and turning all night is your main form of cardio.

Does your mattress make you feel like you're starring in Sleepless in Seattle? If you struggle with finding the right position or feel your partner's every move, you probably spend more time stressing than sleeping.

Tossing or turning – whether yours or someone else's – is a common sign you should replace your mattress. With adjustable bases and a wide variety of mattresses and box springs, Mattress Firm makes it easy to find the right one to suit your sleep style for a better night's rest.

2. Breakfast in bed turns into breakfast on your bed.

Maybe you spilled a glass of orange juice or wet the bed – hey, we've all been there – but these accidents leave stubborn stains on your mattress. Most routinely wash sheets and bedcovers, but it's easy to forget your mattress needs to be cleaned, too.

Although not a pretty sight, stains are a normal sign of mattress wearing. It's likely your mattress just needs a good cleaning session and a mattress protector to seal the deal. Word to the wise: Do-it-yourself tricks work great, but not if they cause warranty issues. Check your warranty period before you attempt to clean or call Mattress Firm's customer service for help.

3. You've sung “my lovely bed lumps" one too many times.

A mattress changes over time like your body, but love handles shouldn't exist in the world of sleep. According to the National Sleep Foundation, the feel of a mattress affects your sleep, and bumps and lumps can cause aches and pains.

If your mattress resembles Mount Everest, we at Mattress Firm think it's probably causing more complaints than actual comfort. It's time to replace your mattress for better sleep and a better-feeling you.

4. You're sneezing more than snoozing.

Your mattress is home to more than just you. From sweat to dust and other allergens, mattresses provide the perfect opportunity for these pesky particles to get some rest, too. According to studies conducted by the Ohio State University, anywhere from 100,000 to 10 million dust mites call your mattress home, and the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America considers it a leading cause of allergies.

Unfortunately, out-of-sight-out-of-mind doesn't apply to allergens. In-bed sneezes mean a new mattress, and trust us, sweet dreams await.

Long-term relationships can be good, but not when it's with your mattress. Mattress Firm recommends replacing your mattress every 8 years, so you never sacrifice your sleep. Sometimes you have to tell your mattress “it's not me, it's you" to get better sleep and a better lifestyle.
