The Global Cardboard Challenge is an annual initiative of the Imagination Foundation. Inspired by the short film, "Caine's Arcade," the Cardboard Challenge is a worldwide celebration of child creativity and the role communities can play in fostering it. This year's Challenge aims to engage 1 million kids in 70 countries in creative play! See what the youth in your community can accomplish with a little cardboard, recycled materials and imagination. It's easy to get involved...
1. Join the Movement
Watch Caine’s Arcade and Caine’s Arcade 2: From a Movie to a Movement and visit http://www.imagination.is/cardboard_challenge. A Cardboard Challenge can be just a few families building together in their backyard or it can be a huge school-wide/community initiative. The Global Cardboard Challenge kicks off in September and culminates in a global Day of Play on Oct 5th, 2013. You can plan a month-long Cardboard Challenge - with multiple days for kids to design and build their projects - or you can organize a one-day event on the Day of Play - it's up to you.
2. Sign up to Host a Cardboard Challenge
Organizers have hosted their events at schools, community centers, backyards, homes, libraries - even parking lots! Visit www.imagination.is to get more details on the Cardboard Challenge and how you can participate. Read the FAQ and Sign Up to Host. In a few weeks, you'll receive an Organizer Playbook and an invitation to join the Organizer Community - where you can share ideas and inspiration with organizers around the world. You’ll have access to tips on how to make your Day of Play a day to remember!
3. Get FREE Cardboard & Craft Supplies
As the national ‘Challenge America’ sponsor, we are excited to support creativity by supplying local organizations and schools with cardboard and craft supplies. You can support the movement by dropping off craft supplies at any participating Mattress Firm location. We’re saving truckloads of cardboard that will be delivered throughout the month of September with the donated craft supplies. Request a delivery for your Cardboard Challenge by filling out this short request form.
4. Share Your Stories!
The story of "Caine’s Arcade" helped to launch a movement. Your experience/stories will keep the creativity movement going. Take lots of pictures and video throughout your Cardboard Challenge, write a blog entry, post on Twitter and Facebook (using @imagination, @cainesarcade and the #cardboardchallenge and #dayofplay hashtags), and share your stories with the world!
