As sleep experts, we get a lot of interesting questions. Since today is National Puppy Day, we thought we’d answer one of the most popular things people ask: Is it ok to let my dog sleep in my bed?
Each person (and pet!) is going to deal with this issue differently, but we suggest you keep the following in mind:
- Pets can help you relax and feel safe. Pets can be warm and cuddly, just like a soft blanket. Many people find that sleeping with their dogs helps them to sleep better.
- Pets can cause allergies. Stuffy, sneezing noses do not make for a good night’s sleep. If this is an issue, don’t let your health and sleep suffer for the sake of overnight cuddles.
- Some dogs may get confused. Letting your dog sleep with you might make them think that your bed is their bed. Some dogs could even become territorial and aggressive with you and your partner, which is definitely not a good situation.
There are always pros and cons to any sleeping arrangement. You decide what’s best for you and your family.
We hope both you and your puppy get a chance to celebrate National Puppy Day today and sleep happy tonight. And check out our YouTube channel for more of Mattress Firm’s employee help videos!
