Top Three Sleep Hacks That Actually Work
The following post is a guest contribution from YouTube vlogger Adrienne Finch.
I'm back for what I can’t believe is my fourth and final post for Mattress Firm – you know what they say, time sure flies when you're getting a good night’s sleep! (Okay, maybe nobody says that.)
Anyway, in this week's video I’m recapping what we’ve discussed over the past four weeks and how these changes have impacted my overall sleep health. Remember when I challenged you all to get 8 hours of sleep each night? Tell me how it’s going – leave me a comment below!
You’ll have to watch the full video of sleep hacks to get the total scoop, but here’s a little sneak peek about what we’ve learned and what’s worked for me:
Avoid the Blue Light Blues
This one was SO hard, but SO worth it. Bursts of blue light throughout the night will only make it more difficult to fall back asleep. To avoid this, place your silenced phone on the other side of the room to avoid reaching for it in the middle of the night.
Failing to Prepare is Preparing to Fail
I am a HUGE advocate of the bedtime brain dump! Drifting off to dreamland is so much more peaceful with a clear mind, and writing down all your “to-do’s” is a surefire way to head to bed without having to battle the lingering demands of the day ahead. It’s the best (and easiest!) kind of stress relief and you won't have to worry about trying to remember it all in the morning.
Sleep 7-9 Hours Each Night
This one is a no-brainer, and trust me – there’s no shortcut for this one. This will change your life in ways you didn't even know were possible. By sleeping 8 hours a night for the past month, I've noticed myself feeling more alert and energized throughout the day, less likely to crash in the afternoon, and SO ready to fall asleep come bedtime. And for those of you saying, I can't get that much sleep because I’m just too busy. Well, prioritizing your sleep will not only make you feel better, but your productivity and energy levels will skyrocket, as well.
It’s been a blast sharing this experience with you all – thanks for joining me on this sleep journey!
