Do Essential Oils Help You Fall Asleep?

Cedarwood also doubles as a sleep aid as well as an alleviant for hypertension and anxiety.

3. Roman Chamomile

Chamomile has several different uses that all promote calmness during relaxation, most commonly sipping a warm cup of chamomile tea. However, when used as an essential oil, it can fight off insomnia as well as relieve anxiety and stress. Sprinkle a few drops into a bath or a vase of water, and inhale a few deep breaths. The potent scent can calm and relax you enough to drift off into dreamland.

4. Ylang-Ylang

Native to Indonesia, ylang-ylang flowers produce an oil that can be effective in reducing hypertension with the substance’s sedative effects. The essential oil has a light floral scent that not only can help you fall asleep faster, but also provides a calming fragrance for your home.

However, ylang-ylang should not be applied directly to skin, but rather, mixed with a moisturizing lotion or a base oil, such as coconut oil.
