Should I Let My Dog Sleep in My Bed?

pets sleep in bed

As sleep experts, we get a lot of interesting questions. One of our more popular questions is around sleep and your pets: Is it OK to let my dog or cat sleep in my bed?

Each person (and pet!) is going to deal with this issue differently, but we suggest you keep the following in mind:

Pets Can Help You Relax and Feel Safe

They are often warm, cuddly and snuggle up to you like a soft blanket. Many people find that sleeping with their dog or cat helps them to sleep better because their pet reduces anxiety and stress.

Pets Can Cause Allergies

Stuffy, sneezing noses do not make for a good night's sleep. If this is an issue, don't let your health and sleep suffer for the sake of overnight cuddles.

Some Pets May Get Confused

Letting your dog sleep with you might make them think that your bed is their bed. Some dogs could even become territorial and aggressive with you and your partner, which is definitely not a good situation.

There are always pros and cons to any sleeping arrangement. Ultimately, you should decide what's the best sleeping arrangement for you, your family and your pets.
