8 Things to Expect from Your Mattress Sales Expert
Is it time to replace your old bed and start sleeping better on a new mattress? If you’re like most people, you probably haven’t shopped for a mattress in a very long time, so you may need a little help in determining the right one for you.
That's where our sleep consultants come in. Mattress Firm employees are experts who know the ins and outs of the mattress business and, most importantly, how to help you find the right mattress for your sleep needs.
In collaboration with our friends at Beautyrest, The Daily Doze engaged our team of all-stars to assemble a list of what customers in search of their perfect mattress can expect from their in-store experience.
1.Expect them to start off by asking you broad, open-ended questions.
Asking open-ended questions helps us piece together your unique sleep situation: Do you sleep hot or cold? Do you have back pain when you wake up in the morning? Do you share your bed with a partner? Kids? A furry friend? Questions like these will open up the conversation and lead to more specific questions that will help find you the perfect mattress.
2. We want you to feel relaxed and at home.
It's important for you to feel comfortable so that you will take your time while testing a mattress. Whether you did a little pre-shopping homework or just have a clear idea of your perfect mattress, we’ve got you covered. Also, if you left your bedmate at home while you shopped, no problem! We want you to know that you're welcome to come back at any time. We'd recommend writing down the name of the mattress you're looking at, so we can pick up where we left off next visit.
3. You need to actually lie on the mattress – really!
A mattress is a big purchase and we want to make sure you feel confident that you are making the right decision. So, don’t be afraid to test out several mattresses. The famous "one-hand press" doesn't count – lie on the mattress for at least 5 to 10 minutes in your typical sleep position(s) to get a good feel. You can even take a quick snooze if you want!
4. We want to focus on finding the right mattress for you.
Our main priority is getting you in the right bed. Based on our discussion, we're going to present you with a mattress that best fits your needs. Mattress Firm knows that prices are an important factor, but we'll anchor our search in finding the mattress that best solves your sleep problems and go from there.
5. If we don't carry a product you're looking for, we will work to show you something similar – if not better.
If you come in asking for something specific that the store does not carry, we may try to ask follow-up questions to identify what qualities you like about that certain model. Then, we will try to find a similar mattress that is more tailored to you. We recommend that our customers be open to suggestions from your sleep consultant.
6. Mattress language can be technical, but we will try to give you the best information in the easiest way possible.
Most people only shop for a mattress once every eight years, so it is likely that there is a lot of new technology that wasn't around the last time you shopped for a mattress. We understand that the vocabulary can be confusing, and we try to break down the more complex features into language that is more digestible to help customers understand the benefits.
7. Many sleep consultants will use a visual aid.
Shopping for mattresses can sometimes feel like sorting through a sea of white rectangles. Demo units and sales tools can help customers visualize what's the mattress and how it works.
8. We want to give you the best experience possible while shopping.
